The 31-year-old singer volunteered to take on the challenge with John Barrowman, 51, who was determined to prove his injured ankle would not hold him back. With John locked in an underground chamber, Fleur raced through a series of dark tunnels – swimming through one – to collect keys to free him. She shrieked as she encountered hundreds of thousands of creepy crawlies along with dozens of rats, ants and spiders in the Rotten Retrieval challenge.
John, who was also coated in insects shouted: “I’m covered, they are everywhere, in every orifice that is not in my head.”
With just seconds to spare, Fleur unlocked all seven stars, bagging her campmates a fish dinner.
Asked which part of the challenge was worst, Fleur told Holly: “The rats, I hated the rats and it was so disgusting.
“The water was really scary, I kept thinking I was going to drown.”
Arriving back in camp Fleur said: “I was genuinely terrified.
“I feel like it was all of my nightmares thrown into one trial.
“The jungle is all about facing your fears and getting through challenges, so bring them on.”
Harry Redknapp, 71, told her: “You are one tough cookie”.
