Chelsea team news vs Man City: Predicted line up – Loftus-Cheek snub, Giroud for Morata

Chelsea will look to get back to winning ways when they host Premier League leaders Manchester City at Stamford Bridge this weekend.

The Blues suffered a on Wednesday as manager Maurizio Sarri paid the price for rotating a number of his key players.

David Luiz and Jorginho were both left on the bench in favour of Andreas Christensen and Cesc Fabregas while Ruben Loftus-Cheek was handed his first league start of the campaign.

The England international impressed with his sixth goal in his last seven appearances for Chelsea, although the 22-year-old may still find himself dropping out of the starting XI.

Mateo Kovacic and Ross Barkley are both in contention for the third midfield spot alongside N’Golo Kante and Jorginho, although many fans are keen for Loftus-Cheek to be given another shot.

Eden Hazard will continue on the left flank but could find himself with new attacking team-mates after Alvaro Morata and Willian both failed to impress in midweek.

Pedro could come in as a direct replacement for Willian while Giroud has four goals in his past five Blues matches and will expect to get the nod over Morata.

Victor Moses is still doubtful but Chelsea have an otherwise clean bill of health ahead of the Champions’ visit to west London.

Having enjoyed a 12-match unbeaten run at the start of the season, recent defeats to Tottenham and Wolves have left Sarri’s side 10 points off the pace.

The Italian manager will field his strongest side against City in an effort to regain momentum ahead of a hectic festive schedule.

Next week’s Europa League clash against MOL Vidi has little meaning for Chelsea with the Blues having already secured top spot in Group L.

And Sarri’s men will be out for revenge against Pep Guardiola’s side, having slipped to a 2-0 loss against them in the Community Shield at the start of the campaign.
