Alaska earthquake: Anchorage hit by ANOTHER strong quake – ‘Not again!’

Witnesses reported feeling buildings shaking as the magnitude 4.8 quake struck at 9.45pm GMT (1.45pm local time). The epicentre was just 37km north of Anchorage, according to earthquake monitoring service EMSC. People in the area took to the EMSC site to share their experiences of the tremor, with one saying: “Building swayed… not again.”

Another said: “Wow that very shaky lasted a long time. Then another smaller one right after.”

The earthquake was initially recorded as a magnitude 5.1 but was later revised down to 4.8.

Today’s tremor comes just days after a major 7.0 quake hit Anchorage.

The earthquake on November 30 caused widespread damage throughout the city.
