LeBron James: Lakers star can make players feel uncomfortable – NBA insider

That’s the view of NBA insider Chris Haynes, who believes the Los Angeles Lakers star sometimes overshadows team-mates.

It comes following Golden State Warriors star Kevin Durant’s comments regarding playing with LeBron.

He said: “He [LeBron] has so many fanboys in the media. Even the beat writers just fawn over him.

“I’m like, we’re playing basketball here, and it’s not even about basketball at certain points.

“So I get why anyone wouldn’t want to be in that environment because it’s toxic.”

Many experts believe the Lakers need another superstar if they are to win the NBA Championship.

LeBron James joined in the offseason from Cleveland Cavaliers having helped the Cavs to four NBA Finals in succession.

And while Haynes believes the Lakers will find someone, he acknowledges the effect that LeBron can have over his team-mates.

“They still have the flexibility to bring in guys,” Yahoo Sports reporter Haynes said.

“I’ve covered LeBron James, I know what it takes to play alongside him.

“There are stars in the league that, once they’ve played with LeBron, they realise that their stature doesn’t measure up to his.

“It can be overshadowing, overpowering and uncomfortable for a lot of players.

“But if you look at LeBron’s resume, he’s a winner.

“People may talk about how he plays but the way he plays is the reason why he was able to go to eight-straight NBA Finals.

“It’s a problem for some, but if you look at a lot of players that have played with LeBron, they’ve got extreme raises after that.

“So I don’t think it’s a matter of LeBron not being able to attract star players, I think the Lakers will be fine.”
