Game Awards 2018: Far Cry 6 post-apocalyptic trailer and Switch Metroid Prime rumours

It’s been confirmed that 10 new titles will be announced during The Game Awards 2018.

The event is being held tomorrow in LA and will see a number of new announcements made alongside the gongs being handed out.

The event will technically begin in the early hours of December 7 for fans in the UK and will mean staying up late.

But if you do, you’ll get to learn more about the next Far Cry project from Ubisoft.

The publisher released what could be a Far Cry 6 teaser trailer today, although, it’s more likely to be a non-numbered spinoff.

The teaser trailer shows the end of the world happening and a new post-apocalyptic dawn for the series.

It’s unclear how big this new game will be, but we do know that details are going to be shared at The Game Awards 2018.

The caption for the new video reads: “Tune into the Game Awards, live on YouTube on December 6, at 5:30PM PST/8:30PM EST.”

So no juicy details until tomorrow for fans of the hit first-person shooter franchise.

There have been plenty of other rumours connected to the Game Awards, as well as confirmations.

We know that Fortnite will be talked about during the show, which probably means some kind of announcement.

This could be something to do with the new Creative Mode that was revealed today or something bigger for 2019.

Platforms confirmed to air The Game Awards live on December 6 (local time) include YouTube (in 4K UHD resolution), Twitter, Facebook, Mixer, Steam TV, PlayStation Live Events Viewer, Xbox Live, IGN, GameSpot, MLG and Caffeine.tv.

Content creators on Twitch, YouTube and Facebook, will also be able to co-stream the show and share it with their audience in real-time.

“Video games are a common passion around the world, and in 2018, The Game Awards is expanding its distribution to celebrate the power of games in more places than ever before,” said Geoff Keighley, creator/executive producer of The Game Awards.

“We’re also giving gamers even more choice in how they select winners across the web, social media, Alexa Voice, Google Assistant, and for the first time ever, via a Discord server.”

Alien: Blackout is another title that has reportedly leaked and will be shown off during the show.

A new trademark has been spotted on the World Intellectual Property Organization’s site, which appears to confirm the existence of Alien: Blackout.

Rumours are circulating that Nintendo could make an announcement on Metroid Prime 4 at the upcoming Game Awards 2018.

Metroid Prime 4 was announced during E3 last year with only a logo shown for the game.

Since then the House of Mario has not revealed any more on the Nintendo Switch title, with fans still awaiting in-game images and footage.

But that could all be about to change at the Game Awards 2018 later this week.

The Game Awards creator Geoff Keighley tweeted: “We have such an incredible show coming together for next week.

“More than 10 new games will be announced for the first time during #TheGameAwards plus updates on existing titles too.

“We will share some teases in the days to come.”
