People have wondered what’s going to happen – if we told you more we’d have to kill you

Cyberpunk 2077 developer CD Projekt Red is yet to confirm an exact release date, only a vague estimate

CD Projekt Red plans to release Cyberpunk 2077 between 2017 and 2021, but industry insiders believe a 2019 release is most likely.

CD Projekt Red is targeting the current generation of consoles – PS4 and Xbox One – in addition to PC, which significantly shrinks the window for release.

The 2019 estimate is also backed by a 2017 CD Projekt Red report describing progress on Cyberpunk as “quite advanced.”

Cyberpunk 2077 is believed to be a first-person shooter RPG, although cutscenes and driving sometimes switches to third-person.

Early indications is that Cyberpunk 2077 is a chaotic and fast-paced first-person shoot ’em-up.

Gamers will play a mysterious mercenary called V.

The hour-long gameplay video saw plenty of weapons.

A street-modified Tech Shotgun could penetrate cover and enemies and a Smart Rifle can fire bullets that track enemies.

You merely aim in their general direction and it’ll lock onto multiple targets and fire bullets that automatically track their intended targets.

Cyberpunk 2077 will also feature character creation, allowing players to customise their avatar’s hair, tattoos, and clothing.

Stats can also be adapted in Cyberpunk 2077.

In addition to Strength and Intelligence, there is also a Cool stat tracking charisma or ability to dal with stress.

Notably, there are some important stats from the tabletop Cyberpunk not represented here, like Empathy.

You can also change your backstory, which will affect how characters regard you and may open up new choices and story moments.

“There are a lot more options. You know, you’re defining your own character here, which means defining their sexuality any way you want,” quest designer Patrick Mills said.

“It’s up to you to decide. We’ve got NPCs that are gay, we’ve got NPCs that are bi, we’ve got NPCs that are straight, because we want them to feel real and that they have preferences as well.”

Cyberpunk 2077 will inevitably receive a mature rating, judging from the gameplay demo.

The video features a scene with a fully naked woman, explicit swearing and coarse jokes.

Cyberpunk 2077 is expected to deliver dialogue in real-time – a significant improvement in the genre.

You can continue moving and looking around, but when you focus the camera back on the character you’re speaking to, dialogue options appear on screen.

Cyberpunk 2077 takes place in Night City, a massive metropolis in Northern California.

There are vehicles you can drive in either first or third person, which looks impressive and smooth.

“People have wondered what’s going to happen, there are clues and hints – if we told you more we’d have to kill you, as usual,” said Pondsmith during Cyberpunk 2077’s reveal in 2012.

“One of them is a big hint I left for everybody at the end of the fourth Corporate War, when I dropped a small pocket tactical nuke in the middle of the Arasaka Towers, and that left kind of a really large real estate space that we’re gonna be playing around with.”
