Breast cancer warning – how to reveal your ‘hidden’ risk when simply leaning forward

Breast cancer symptoms could include skin puckering or dimpling, warned ITV This Morning’s Dr Chris Steele.

It’s caused by a tumour pulling on the skin, altering it’s shape.

But breast cancer may not show as a single dimple, he warned. It could lead to a number of dimplings on the surface of the breast.

You could reveal your skin dimpling by simply leaning forward, Dr Chris revealed.

“A tumour can pull on the skin of your breasts,” said Dr Chris.

“That can show up as a single dimple. If you lean forward, you may notice that single dimple.

“Use a mirror or your partner can check for you.”

If the puckering develops with multiple dimples, it could lead to a condition known as ‘skin of an orange’, he added.

Skin of an orange isn’t caused by a single tumour, but a number of smaller cancer cells blocking the lymph nodes.

“If you see that, it’s extremely important that you see your doctor.”

Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers to be diagnosed in the UK.

Around one in eight women are diagnosed with the condition at some point during their lifetime.

But, there’s a good chance of a full recovery if it’s diagnosed early, said the NHS.

Women should check their breasts regularly to check for any signs of breast cancer.

The exact cause of breast cancer isn’t entirely understood, but there are certain risk factors that could increase your risk.

Your chances of developing breast cancer increase as you get older.

A family history of the disease also raises your risk, as well as having a previous diagnosis of breast cancer.

You could lower your chances of breast cancer by maintaining a healthy weight, and by doing regular exercise.

Exercise could reduce your risk of the cancer by as much as a third, added the NHS.

Everyone should aim for at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity activity every week.
