NBA news: Lakers planning to trade THREE players in order to make move for Anthony Davis

That is what NBA expert Brandon ‘Scoop B’ Robinson has claimed.

Lonzo Ball, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Brandon Ingram could all be moved on by the franchise in order to make way for Davis.

Davis has been playing for the New Orleans Pelicans for the past six years, since he was drafted by the franchise.

However, in recent weeks, reports have emerged that Davis is keen to leave the Pelicans and move to a better team.

The Pelicans are 12-12 this season.

As of yet, no trade has been agreed, though it has been suggested that he could end up with his friend LeBron James in Los Angeles.

In order to make that trade happen, however, the Lakers would need to stump up serious cash.

Davis signed a £113 million contract earlier in the year.

This means that if the Lakers are to make a move, they will need to pay that huge contract.

And Robinson believes their route to doing so is to trade three big players.

He claimed that if the deal was to be a straight-up trade with the Pelicans, Ball would be involved in the deal.

However, if the deal is to be more complex, they would give up three players, with one or even two going to the Orlando Magic.

Robinson wrote: “On Thursday, an NBA league source shared with me that the Los Angeles Lakers are interested in bringing in Anthony Davis via trade as soon as December 15 and Ball and other key Lakers players Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Brandon Ingram could be part of the move.

“A potential three-team deal could involve the Lakers, Pelicans and the Orlando Magic.

“‘If it’s a straight-up trade with the Pelicans, Lonzo will be in the deal,’ a league source with Lakers knowledge told me on Thursday.”

The Lakers’ current roster has multiple players on one-year contracts.

This is to ensure that next summer, when players such as Kevin Durant, Klay Thompson and Kawhi Leonard are potentially available, they will have salary space.

However, it now appears they could be looking to mount a serious challenge to the Golden State Warriors’ crown by trading for Davis now.
