PS5 release news: The AMAZING Bloodborne 2 theory that PlayStation fans will want to hear

The PS5 could launch alongside Bloodborne 2, according to a brand new theory.

In a new video posted by the excellent VaatiVidya, the YouTube star and big Souls fan suggests that From Software could be readying a sequel or prequel to Bloodborne.

As previously reported, From Software PSVR title Deracine features an item referred to as the Fiona Doll, which contains an interesting nod to Bloodborne.

The item description reads: “A doll of the stone girl Fiona, who appears in the unfinished tale. When a person has a bad dream, Fiona appears and helps them flee.”

The doll is also performing the ‘Make Contact’ gesture, which suggests that the Bloodborne tale isn’t over.

But VaatiVidya also points towards a book that can be found within Deracine called Blood and Bones.

VaatiVidya suggests that the next Bloodborne game could be set in Loran before it was consumed by sand.

“Prose of some terrible tale,” the Blood and Bones description reads.

“This fabled land of gold, silver, and sacrifices owed both its rise and fall to its inhuman warriors. They applied face paint brewed from blood, giving them the strength of the gods, and carved up their own bones, crafting the weapons of the gods.

“Yet their legacy is neither here nor there.”

The video, which can be viewed at this link, speculates that the Blood and Bones description could reference Inca and Aztec culture.

VaatiVidya admits that some of the links are tenuous, but it is fun to speculate.

With Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice launching on PS4 and Xbox One next year, any potential Bloodborne sequel would likely be saved for the PS5 in 2020.

According to Reddit user RuthenicCookie4, Sony will unveil the PS5 in 2019.

Sony will host a small PS5 reveal in mid-2019, before showcasing the console in full at the returning PlayStation Experience (PSX) event.

Furthermore, it’s said that most studios are in possession of a PS5 dev kit, which is described as a monster.

While the post acknowledges that things may change, this would certainly explain why Sony dropped out of E3.

Bloodborne fans, meanwhile, should check out the excellent Dark Souls: Beyond the Grave Volume 2, which is out now.

The book takes a closer look at Bloodborne and Dark Souls 3, highlighting some of the game’s themes, characters and music.
