What Deontay Wilder has said about Tyson Fury will shock you

Wilder, 33, will put his WBC heavyweight title on the line in Los Angeles in the early hours of Sunday morning.

It’s been a fractious build-up to the fight with the pair having to be separated during a fractious weigh-in.

But in a bizarre admission in a BT Sport documentary ahead of the fight, Wilder has admitted he is actually a big Fury fan.

“I don’t dislike him at all, I like him,” Wilder said.

“He’s a different character to the rest. He likes to talk, he thinks his funny, he’s a big goof ball and you need that in this sport.

“We are in the ring risking our lives for other people’s entertainment.

“When it’s all said and done, we want to be who we are and show the world who we are

“Just because we are fighters we don’t have to be tough all the time.”

Wilder has 39 knockouts from 40 bouts and Fury reckons he’s one of the ‘greatest puncher of all time’.

But despite the American admitting there’s no hatred, he has still vowed to knock him out.

He added: “The mission is still open. It’s a process and you are preparing to get the mindset right for the journey.

“It’s amazing because of our intriguing styles, we’ve got two crazy styles.

“But I know I’m going to knock him out, because I believe in it.”
