Steph Curry: The REAL reason why Warriors star is NOT playing in NBA clash against Raptors

The game pits two of the best teams in the Eastern and Western Conferences respectively in Toronto.

The Raptors have won their last six games in a row, while the Warriors have dominated the in three of the past four years.

Curry has missed the last 10 games with a groin injury, travelled with the rest of the team, and while the Warriors have coped in his absence despite a mini blip, his calming influence is missed on the floor.

And when asked why Curry didn’t play against the Raptors, NBA on TNT reporter Kristen Ledlow said: “He [Curry] was going through his progressions behind me, but I was told by a member of the Warriors staff prior to the game that they were concerned by the length of the trip to Toronto and Steph’s susceptibility to injury.

“If it were a play-off game he would be playing.

“One of the things though that coach Kerr told is that it is ‘killing Steph’… he spent some of his childhood in Toronto.

“He wanted to play in this game, but the team essentially thought there would be no need to rush him.

“He’s expected to make his return on Saturday.”

Meanwhile, NBA expert Sekou Smith thinks the Raptors fans will be hard done by with Curry not playing.

He said: “I think the real losers are the fans [Raptors].

“They got their eyes on the trip to the finals and this could be that one opportunity they would have to see their team against the Warriors in Toronto before that proposed finals match up would happen.

“But if you are Steph Curry, you don’t take any chances at all.

“You don’t rush Steph Curry back from this injury.”

Warriors boast a 15-7 record this term.

They also are without Draymond Green who has a sprained toe.
