Katie Piper: Strictly pro Gorka Marquez unveils shocking injury which he suffered on show

Strictly Come Dancing professional Gorka Marquez, who is in a relationship with Gemma Atkinson, took to his Instagram page to post a series of clips showing him getting work done to his back by a specialist. The 27-year-old uploaded the clips with the caption: “For the last 3 weeks I have been carrying an injury in my neck & also, my lower back.“They have massively restricted my training and some of the dances for the show have been tough. With being so busy on strictly with rehearsals, Blackpool week, the Christmas special and musicals week, I didn’t have the time to check out the full extent of the damage.

“Today I FINALLY!!! I went to visit @leskupu to do some work on it, and put myself back in the right place…

“Here is some of the work we did. I could feel the difference straight away and he’s now my new best friend!

“THANK YOU BRET!!! check out his page and if you think you need a treatment or have any questions, just DM him.

“I’m so glad I was recommend to see Bret for regular treatment.”

Many of Gorka’s 287,000 Instagram followers flocked to his page to query the treatment.

One user commented: “It looks painful! Haha!”

But Gorka responded to the user revealing it isn’t and to “give it a try.”

A second user wrote: “I’m sure I could do this.”

A third added: “Ouch, that looks red and sore. Good that it’s working for you though.”

Gorka also took to his Instagram story to reassure his fans he was better and ready to get back to the Strictly dance floor.

Giving a thumbs up to the camera, he commented: “Ready for @BBCStrictly this weekend.”

Last month, Gorka and his celebrity partner Katie Piper became the third pairing to leave the BBC show.

The duo faced Charles Venn and his partner Karen Clifton in the dreaded dance-off, with the four judges saving the latter.

After her exit, Katie told Express.co.uk what shocked her the most on the show.

She said: “I was particularly nervous in the first week, as the experience just felt so alien to me.

“I was shocked at my nerves because I’m used to an audience with my theatre tour and corporate talks.

“I rectified the nerve issues quickly so I was able to have fun and enjoy it rather than just concentrate on remembering the steps and being technically perfect.”

Philanthropist Katie also said she would love to return to the dance floor.

When asked if she would go back to the show, she said: “It was such a positive memory and such a good period of my life, so yeah definitely.”
