Red Dead Redemption 2 online beta not working: Connection problems, crashing and freezes

Red Dead Redemption 2 Online beta is live, allowing gamers to explore the expansive Wild West with others. Red Dead Online blends the best of the original Red Dead Redemption with deep multiplayer experiences. The result is a revolutionary experience that will continue to expand and evolve over time.

Red Dead Online beta is currently only available to Ultimate Edition owners but this will expand to a wide release beta in two phases later this week.

The staggered roll-out was intended to prevent issues commonly associated with wide public launch.

But the Red Dead Online beta has already been inundated with reports of access problems and glitches causing the game not to work.

Those who bought the Ultimate Edition of the RDR2 game were the first to get access at 1.30pm yesterday.

The issue appears to have just affected Microsoft platforms, meaning gamers were unable to play Red Dead Online.

The issues have now been fixed and the next wave of gamers have received access from 1.30pm today (Wednesday, November 28).

The next batch will get access on Thursday, November 29 – that’s those who bought the game between October 26 to 29.

On Friday, November 30, all players will have access.

Players begin Red Dead Online as an outlaw on the run from the law.

You are given almost absolute free reign in Red Dead Online – from creating your own camp to curating an online posse of up to seven human players.

Other activities include horse riding with friends, embarking on cooperative story-based missions, meet strangers to help or fight, tackle spontaneous free roam challenges and explore with friends.

Red Dead Online’s developer Rockstar promises additions and updates will be added to the beta.
