Red Dead Online release UPDATE: Big RDR2 changes confirmed for PS4 and Xbox One

We now know a lot more about the Red Dead Redemption 2 Online beta than we did last week.

The first wave of players have had their first taste of multiplayer outlaw life, and so far, the feedback has been positive.

The biggest problems gamers are currently facing is finding a stable connection to the Red Dead Online servers.

This is expected to be a problem throughout the Red Dead 2 beta, which could last weeks.

But when it does end, Rockstar Games will be making one very big change to how things work.

Fans can expect regular updates for Red Dead Online, which will bring new content and features.

And one major Red Dead Redemption 2 online release update has already been confirmed for after the beta.

This includes microtransactions being added to the game.

This will be how Rockstar Games will support further development of Red Dead Online, having proven very profitable with GTA Online.

And the first details of this new system has been found by those playing the game this week.

It has now been confirmed that an in-game store for Red Dead Online will be launched when the beta is over.

As you might expect, this will not include Shark Cards but will use Gold Bars as the currency of choice.

It’s expected that fans will be able to buy cosmetic items, although the full details have yet to be announced.

Here’s what Rockstar has shared about the new microtransaction system coming to Red Dead Online:

“You may notice some areas of the in-game menus are not yet accessible or available during this early period of the Beta, such as the Red Dead Online in-game Store which will eventually open up to provide the option of purchasing gold bars to directly acquire cosmetic items like Camp décor, or a special style for your weapons.”

GTA Online allowed players to top up their bank accounts so they could buy whatever they fancied in-game, such as Yachts and tanks.

This certainly cut out a lot of grinding for those who were willing thrown down real cash for the option.

Rockstar has also made another big announcement, revealing that they hope to keep all player progress from the beta.

However, as mentioned below, there is a chance that this could be removed and players will need to start again with some stats.

“We hope that all player progress during this early period of the Beta will be able to remain intact long term, however as with many betas for large-scale online experiences such as this, there is always the chance that we may need to implement rank or other stat resets in case of issues.”

The next wave of Red Dead Online beta players will get access today, although, Rockstar has yet to say when.

If we are to assume it will run like November 26, players will get access to the Red Dead Redemption 2 beta at around 1:30pm, GMT.

“The Red Dead Online Beta is launching this week with early access beginning today.

“We are easing our servers and systems into handling the increasingly larger player base by scaling up the online population throughout this week – until Friday the 30th – at which point the Beta will be open to everyone with a copy of Red Dead Redemption 2.

“This will help ensure that our servers can handle a steadily growing volume of concurrent players in the early hours and first days of the Beta and hopefully reduce the likelihood of any server crashes during the launch week as we get things up and running.”

The Red Dead Online beta release date for all players, regardless of what version they own or what date they started to play, has been set for Friday, November 30.
