PS Plus December 2018: Great news for Sony ahead of free PS4 games reveal today

The official PS Plus December 2018 lineup of free games will be revealed today.

Free PS4 games fans have had to wait till the last Wednesday in December to find out what is being primed for launch for next month.

November’s PlayStation Plus lineup set the bar pretty high by offering up Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition & Yakuza Kiwami.

And PS Plus subscribers will be hoping to finish the year with more top titles to add to their digital library.

It was recently revealed that Sony has had another great year with the leading PS4 and PS4 Pro console range.

October is usually a good year for console sales, leading up to the busy holiday season.

But before the arrival of Black Friday and Cyber Monday, it’s been confirmed that Sony PlayStation had some impressive sales stats.

These came in October 2018, with the tech giant seeing their PS4 console outsell Xbox and Nintendo Switch.

It may have even been one of the best months for a Sony PlayStation in a very long time.

That’s according to the latest data shared by the NPD group, with analyst Mat Piscatella revealing some great news for Sony going into 2019.

“PlayStation 4 hardware unit sales achieved an all-time October high for the platform,” Piscatella said. “While PlayStation 4 hardware dollar sales reached its highest point for an October month since October 2014.”

“October 2018 unit sales of PlayStation 4 reached the highest mark for any PlayStation hardware platform in an October month since the PlayStation 2 in October 2002.”

More on the overall outlooks from Piscatella, who adds: “Hardware spending in October 2018 grew 26 per cent when compared to a year ago, to $300 million.

“Significant gains in spending on both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One hardware were offset by declines across all other platforms.”

“For the 2018 year-to-date period, hardware spending has increased 19 percent, to $2.7 billion,”

“Spending gains for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and plug-n-play devices such as the NES Classic Edition and SNES Classic Edition continue to drive growth.”

A recent Sony financial report also confirmed other more surprising numbers regarding the PS Plus subscription service.

It was confirmed that the PlayStation Plus subscription was part of an 8% upward revision in sales.

This includes the sales of PS4 hardware, as well as increases in sales of the PlayStation Plus subscription service.

An exact share hasn’t been revealed but will be welcome news following the dip in subscribers during the time period of March 2018 to June 2018.

So it certainly sounds like there could be more PS Plus subscribers waiting to find out what will be released next month on PS4.

The announcement is expected to be made later today, at around 4:30pm in the UK

This will include all the new games that will be offered as free downloads as part of PlayStation Plus.

This will include a range of titles from PS4, PS3 and PS Vita, as well as the chance of surprise PS VR inclusion.

Regarding predictions, Sony first-party games are always a good shout. Games like Uncharted 4, Uncharted: Nathan Drake Collection, Killzone 3 and The Order 1886 are viable options.

That’s on top of games like The Last of Us 2 Remastered and Gravity Rush.

It should be noted that the content you have downloaded as part of your PlayStation Plus subscription at no charge is only accessible as long as you are an active subscriber.

The exceptions are free themes and avatars, which you will continue to have access to, even if you are no longer a subscriber.

Anything you have purchased (even if you bought it at a discount) will remain available to you even if your subscription ends.

Also, different countries have different rights, release schedules and, have different things available on their PlayStation Store for this reason.

So this is why you may hear about different games being available in Asia, Europe and North America when it comes to some PS Plus announcements.
