Captain Marvel: Will Avengers 4 trailer reveal HUGE plot links to Captain Marvel?

Avengers: Infinity War set up the Marvel universe for a huge change, with half of the Marvel heroes now extinguished from existence by Thanos. The Disney-owned studios haven’t wasted any time since then, releasing Ant Man and the Wasp and wrapping filming on Captain Marvel. Brie Larson is starring as the complex titular character in the forthcoming film, which is taking a very different tone compared to past films.

Captain Marvel is the next chance fans will have to get their Marvel fix before Avengers 4 but it won’t continue on from the last film.

Will the Avengers 4 trailer reveal huge plot links to Captain Marvel?

Captain Marvel is one of the many top-billed Marvel superheroes making their way into the Avengers this year.

People are still waiting to find out who else will be included, likely to be revealed in a trailer which could be released any day now.

Captain Marvel is scheduled for March 3, 2019 and Avengers 4 a month later on May 3.

With Captain Marvel’s film set decades before the next Avengers instalment, an Avengers 4 trailer could risk revealing vital plot information.

The extent of Captain Marvel’s role in the film is as of yet unknown in full but we do know she will be one of the most powerful Marvel characters.

If Marvel chose to show this in the trailer, they could end up revealing her character and power development from the first film.

Marvel has had this issue before, with Spider-Man’s introduction to the Marvel Cinematic Universe from Sony.

The trailer for Captain America: Civil War ended with the webslinger appearing and simply saying “hey everyone”, revealing very little about his role.

Marvel has also added scenes and extracted details from trailers before, showing Thanos with an incomplete Infinity Gauntlet in a scene where he had every Infinity Stone, and choosing not to reveal Thor losing an eye during the Thor: Ragnarok trailer.

Directors the Russo brothers could decide to do something similar here, cutting out details or simply introducing her for a few frames.

What is the synopsis for Captain Marvel?

Brie Larson will star as Captain Marvel, otherwise known as Carol Danvers, in Marvel’s first film centred on a female superhero.

The captain is one of the Marvel Universe’s most powerful characters, according to Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige.

This signifies a change in tune for Marvel, which is also set to make the film stand out in terms of storytelling.

According to the synopsis, Captain Marvel will ditch the “traditional origin-story template”.

The official synopsis reads: “Directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, Captain Marvel sidesteps the traditional origin-story template, and when it begins, Carol already has her powers.

“She’s left her earthly life behind to join an elite Kree military team called Starforce, led by Jude Law’s enigmatic commander.

“But before long, Carol finds herself back on Earth with new questions about her past.

“And she’s got a formidable enemy in the form of the Skrulls — the notorious Marvel baddies made all the more dangerous by their shape-shifting abilities.

“Ben Mendelsohn plays their leader Talos, who spearheads a Skrull invasion of Earth.”

Captain Marvel is out in cinemas on March 3, 2019
