Ronaldo and Messi snub
Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi do not deserve the Ballon d’Or award as much as Antoine Griezmann, according to Diego Simeone.
“We can safely say that Cristiano and Leo are the best footballers in the world But not in this 2018,” the Atletico Madrid manager said.
“At this lap Antoine was superior to everyone, nobody did what he did for his teams.
“When a footballer makes sure that the whole team can work based on his brain, it has an incalculable value.”
Griezmann has won three trophies this year in the form of the Europa League, World Cup and European Super Cup.
Man Utd praise
Manchester United star Anthony Martial has praised Ronaldo, admitting the Juventus forward is a role model of his.
“It was Cristiano Ronaldo,” Martial said when asked who his favourite Red Devils icon is.
”He was incredible. He is incredible.
“I only admired players who dribbled the ball and he did just that. He would put on a real show.
“To tell you the truth, he got me dreaming that one day it could be me.”
Real Madrid misjudged Juventus move
Fabio Capello believes Real Madrid sold Ronaldo to Juventus because they thought they could win without him.
The former Los Blancos boss said: “Maybe Real Madrid will be going into this [tonight’s match against Roma] worse in terms of form.
“They are paying the price for thinking that it would be easier to win without Cristiano Ronaldo, and that the results would be the same.
“When Cristiano was at Real Madrid, their rivals were frightened, and his team mates felt more liberty.
“He can create problems at any moment. But having said that, Madrid still have a lot of quality. And Marcelo and Carvajal are now back from injury.”
