UK Championship snooker TV schedule: How to watch UK Championship on TV this week

Ronnie O’Sullivan is the defending champion after his stunning 10-5 victory over Shaun Murphy 12 months ago.

The win saw O’Sullivan equal Steve Davis’ record of six UK titles and take home the £170,000 top prize.

The Rocket has been drawn against former world amateur champion Luke Simmonds in the first round this year, who combines his playing career with a factory job making car parts.

“Hopefully I’ll have a couple of days to practise before I head up to York,” said Simmonds.

“The financial side is difficult because if you are not winning matches then you can’t cover your expenses.”

O’Sullivan said: “I hope my opponent can get the time off work for our game.

“It’s very interesting what he has to say about being on the tour.”

The York Barbican has been home to the UK Championship since 2011, with the tournament coming to a conclusion on December 9.

Live coverage of the first three days will shown be on the Eurosport Player, with TV coverage kicking in on Saturday, December 1 from the BBC and Eurosport (no play on Friday, November 30).
