The firebrand Republican was speaking at the rally to galvanise his key base. He was railing against the Washington establishment when he made the sensational outburst. The President was campaigning for Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith in the Senate race.

In a searing rant, he said: “For decades Washington politicians allowed foreign countries to plunder our jobs shut all our factories and decimate our industries.

“I’ve been talking about it for 20 years – when I was in the private sector.

“I can’t believe I am not in the private sector.

“Now they call me a politician.

Other surprising comments Trump made during the event included the President claiming he looked just like Elvis Presley – minus the hair.

He said: “Other than the blonde hair, when I was growing up they said I looked like Elvis.

“I always considered that a great compliment.

“We love Elvis. I shouldn’t say this because it makes me sound conceited, but I’m not.”

The President also likened the new NAFTA trade deal to the well-known song by the Village People, Y.M.C.A.

Trump told the crowd the USMCA deal sounded like the song Y.M.C.A, while simultaneously lauding it as a “great deal”.
