Microsoft Office 365 and Outlook is down and not working for hundreds of users across the UK.

Hundreds of users across the UK have reported login issues and server connection problems.

Independent website Down Detector registered a surge in people reporting problems with the services.

According to DD, Office 365 begun experiencing problems around 11 AM GMT hitting a peak around 12 PM.

“Office 365 service degradation at the moment affecting number of customers, confirmed by Microsoft. Expect slow updating within Outlook,” said one user.

“Oh fab, Office 365, well Exchange Online specifically,” added another.

Customers are also experiencing problems with the Outlook email service

One said: “Most users unable to connect via Outlook client and some unable to access the web based client.”

However, the official Office 365 status page states there is nothing that is preventing people from logging on.

Pete Banham, cyber resilience expert at Mimecast, commented: “Significant number of Exchange Online customers in the UK are reporting issues today. Many employees are likely wheel-spinning on the web instead of productive work.

“Following the recent MFA issues that plagued Azure and Office 365 services, IT teams across the country should be asking hard questions about their business continuity strategies. This type of event will reoccur and it’s simply madness to be unprepared for the next outage.”
