Fortnite update 6.31 early patch notes: New shotgun, mounted turret nerf, bouncer traps

update 6.31 early patch notes reveal details on two new weapons coming to Battle Royale and major changes to an existing one.

Fortnite fans are gearing up for the release of update 6.31, which could be dropping tomorrow (Tuesday November 27).

The update is coming hot on the heels of the Fortnite content update 6.30 which was released last week.

That Fortnite patch brought with it the new Wild West LTM and the Dynamite weapon for PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC, iOS and Android.

And Fortnite fans have a good idea now of what to expect from the upcoming Fortnite update 6.31.

When Battle Royale players log in online they are being teased about two new weapons coming to Fortnite.

These inbound Fortnite Battle Royale weapons are the epic and legendary pump shotguns.

The new Fortnite weapons are expected to be upgrades of the uncommon and rare pump shotguns.

This means the new Fortnite weapons are capable of inflicting high damage but at a low rate of fire.

The description of the inbound new Fortnite item says: “Epic and Legendary variants of the Pump Shotgun!”

Eric Williamson, design lead for Fortnite Battle Royale, previously revealed the shotgun changes on Twitter.

Last week he tweeted: “The upcoming 6.31 update will include a Pump Shotgun rebalance to improve effectiveness: damage will increase in close quarters and range will be reduced slightly.

“Additionally, ALL shotguns will have a minimum damage of 3 pellets (even if only 1 or 2 hit).”

Williamson also revealed that the mounted turret was set to be nerfed in the Fortnite 6.31 update.

He posted: “Some adjustments to Mounted Turret coming in a hotfix: it will overheat a little faster and have a reduced headshot multiplier. 6.31 client update will adjust collision volume making it easier to hit players from the front.”

More details on the turret nerf were revealed on the Fortnite Trello page – click here to check out the message board in full.

The update on the Fortnite mounted turret explains: “We were a bit too generous with the collision volume on the Mounted Turret.

“This can make it difficult to land shots against players occupying the Turret.

“We will be adjusting this in a future update to lower the collision volume, making it a bit easier to land shots at all angles.”

Elsewhere one Fortnite leaker has revealed his hopes that Fortnite update 6.31 will mark the return of the bouncer trap.

The Fortnite bouncer trap was removed from Battle Royale in October, with Epic Games explaining this was due to the “influx of recent mobility items”.

The bouncer trap was put in the vault, and the Fortnite Battle Royale Leaks Twitter account said they have a funny feeling it could return this week.

The @FNBRLeaks Twitter account posted: “Vault Chillers, Bring Back Bouncers. I have an odd feeling this’ll happen tomorrow.”
