Rockstar Games next major release is scheduled to land later this week for fans of multiplayer gaming.

The last information we received on the Red Dead Redemption 2 online beta is that it will be released near the end of November.

And as we’re currently heading into the last week of the month, it’s now or never for the RDR2 multiplayer to launch on time.

Rockstar Games has yet to share anything substantial about their new online mode, a successor to the highly successful GTA Online.

But from recent leaks and what the development team has mentioned in the past, we have a good idea about what will be coming next.

RED DEAD ONLINE BETA

Red Dead Redemption 2 multiplayer will begin in beta, meaning that PS4 and Xbox One gamers will be putting up with server crashes and other gameplay issues.

Many who tried to play GTA Online in its first weeks will remember spending a lot of time in the clouds over San Andreas, waiting to load in.

And the same can be expected from this week’s beta launch.

Fans also have high hopes that Red Dead Online may boast a few added features that will help make up for some of the inevitable crashes coming our way.

GTA ONLINE CROSSOVER

There has been plenty of cross promotions made available in GTA Online, ahead of the release of Red Dead Redemption 2.

This included completing scavenger hunts to unlock new weapons and help bolster in-game cash reserves.

And fans are also hoping for something like this to be made available when Red Dead Online goes live.

The chances of some kind of cross-promotion being held in Red Dead Online for GTA 5 seems pretty high, although it probably won’t be available straight away.

Rockstar Games has said they hope to keep updating both games regularly, meaning support will continue for both multiplayer modes.

Speaking to IGN before the RDR2 release date, Rockstar North’s Imran Sarwar had this to say on how this might work:

“We still have big plans for Grand Theft Auto Online and we will continue to roll out updates for the foreseeable future.

“We vaguely plan to stagger the updates of both games so that players can switch between the two, but our development plans may not always allow this!

“We think there will be a lot to love about Red Dead Online for fans of Grand Theft Auto Online, but we think that Red Dead Online will generate its own audience ready for something entirely new – however, exactly what form Red Dead Online will take as it finds it’s feet, we are not sure ourselves, but we think really want a focus on role-playing and morality.

“That may all change as the game comes out, but that’s the direction we are heading in now!

“And we are going to be working together on that with our incredible community to make this online experience into something amazing.”

RED DEAD REDEMPTION 2 MULTIPLAYER INTRO

Gamers may have also learnt more about Red Dead Redemption 2 multiplayer from the list of achievements on PS4 and Xbox One.

These Trophies confirm that Campsites will be featured like in single-player, as well as new “free-roam” events.

In GTA Online, these meant activities such as parachuting, robbing trucks and tracking down worthwhile scores across the map.

The achievements list also includes one that states that fans are rewarded by “Completing the Intro” which appears to be called “Breakout.”

And other leaked information from data miners suggests that this might be in connection with an escape from a building, or some kind of vehicle.

It certainly would be an interesting way to start your career as an outlaw and would also serve as a tutorial to help players learn the revamped rules of online play.

A list of missions types has also reportedly leaked, suggesting that Red Dead Online might launch with something close to what was first offered in GTA Online.

Special Survival missions that will lead to an ever-growing shootout with gangs have been reported.

Other types include racing, which is something that could be expanded with the existing horse-riding found in single-player mode.

RED DEAD ONLINE DELAY?

While there is nothing to suggest that a delay is set to be announced later this week, the lack of news from Rockstar Games has led to some speculation.

Red Dead Redemption 2’s multiplayer mode has been backed to be very popular and will, therefore, have a good chance at generating high amounts of revenue.

So the longer it takes for RDR2 Online to be launched, the more money is lost in the process.

Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive have an incentive to have online ticking over as quickly as possible, but they also know the pitfalls too.

If the Red Dead Online launch is marred by technical issues, it could put players off.

So getting it right is also very important, even if it will start as a beta release.

From what has been shared by Rockstar Games, the Red Dead Online beta will begin later in November.

A set day for the beta release has not been confirmed yet, meaning that something should be shared by Rockstar in the coming days.

Making an announcement on Tuesday, November 27, followed by a release later this week, would certainly make Red Dead 2 fans happy.

This could include a new trailer being released by the development team, who will need to explain how their new multiplayer adventure works.
