New England Patriots news: Rob Gronkowski gives injury update ahead of New York Jets clash

The Patriots’ tight end has been missing for three weeks due to injury, but could return today.

‘Gronk’ missed the defeat against the Tennessee Titans two weeks ago.

The Patriots were beaten 34-10 by the Titans in a blowout game as Brady struggled without his prime target on the field.

Despite suffering an injury during the week, Brady is still expected to play today.

And so is Gronkowski, after he was given the all-clear by Patriots’ medical staff.

He had been suffering from a back injury, officially listed as ‘back spasms’, but insisted that he is ready to go on Sunday.

“Yeah, definitely ready to get back there,” Gronkowski said.

“I’m good to go and excited to be back out there with the team.

“Excited to get back out there on Sundays and play some ball.

“[Spent bye-week] Just working hard, working with all the people around me.

“I had a lot of good people to work hard with, do exercises, get everything back right and just keep on grinding every day so I can get back out there with my teammates.

“And that’s what it will be on Sunday.”

The Jets are on a four-game losing streak, and are rock bottom the AFC East.

However, Gronkowski insisted that it will still be a tough game.

“Sunday afternoon in New York, it’s going to be a hostile environment. It always is.

“They’re a good team, they play hard.

“I mean, I can’t recall a game where I would say they haven’t played hard in my nine years playing them, so it’ll be a good one.

“It’ll be a tough one, but it’ll be a good one again.”
