November Full Moon: What is the best time to see the Full Moon? When is next Full Moon?

The Full Moon in November is also called a Beaver Moon, as this time of year is when beavers prepare their dams for the winter season. The animals are able to work at nighttime, as the Moon gives off light to help them see. A Full Moon occurs when the Sun and Moon face each other directly, with the Earth in-between them.

What is the best time to see the Full Moon?

The dark winter nights meant the Moon was visible from about 4.41pm onwards today.

So keep an eye out for it on your way home from work or if you are heading out to socialise tonight.

The Moon looks so big tonight as it has reached perigee, when the Moon’s orbit is closest to Earth.

Dhara Patel, Astronomer at the Royal Observatory Greenwich, told Country Living: “The Moon approaches perigee on November 26.

“This is when the Moon will be closest to the Earth during its elliptical orbit.

“So with the Full Moon occurring just a few days before – the Beaver Moon might appear to be slightly bigger and brighter.”

When is the next Full Moon?

If you miss out on seeing this month’s Full Moon, the Cold Moon will appear on December 22.

After that, a total lunar eclipse will fill the skies on January 21, 2019.

Stargazers will be able to see the Moon turn red while it passes through Earth’s dark inner shadow.

Then there will be a partial lunar eclipse on July 16 and 17 next year.

The skies have been filled with some impressive moons this year, including the largest superman of 2018 on New Year’s Day.

A Super Blue Blood Moon followed at the end of January and then a double Blood Moon was visible in March.

In July, the Blood Moon was also the longest total lunar eclipse of the 21st century.
