LeBron James: Cavs hero reveals which NBA ace is most like Lakers star

James is a four-time MVP and has won three NBA Championships in his career.

That includes one with the Cavs, who he left in the offseason to join the Lakers having opted out of his contract in Ohio.

After a slow start in LA, James is shining bright now and helped the Lakers to a win over his former side earlier this week.

But while James gets all the headlines, eyes are beginning to turn to the next generation of NBA stars.

And Carr believes Philadelphia 76ers star Ben Simmons is the closest to James when it comes to how they influence a game.

“Ben Simmons is closes (sic) player to LeBron’s style of play in NBA,” Carr, who had his No 34 jersey retired by the Cavs, tweeted.

Simmons is in just his second season after being named NBA Rookie of the Year in his debut campaign.

It came after he helped the 76ers to the playoffs where they were beaten by Boston Celtics in the second round.

Simmons finished his debut regular season having started all 81 games he played in, and averaging 15.8 points per game.

LeBron James averages 24.5 points per game through his career though Simmons did average two assists more than the King.

James is in his 16th season in the NBA and FOX Sports journalist Nick Wright is amazed by his longevity.

“Appreciate what we’re watching,” the NBA specialist told First Things First.

“In NBA history, year 15 or later, here are the 50-point games.

“One by Karl Malone, three by LeBron and the last game of Kobe [Bryant’s] career.

“This doesn’t happen. Prior to this year, LeBron was a consensus top-three-all-time guy, with a career average of 27 [points], seven [assists] seven [rebounds].

“In year 16 he’s given you 29-8-7. I don’t know how he’s getting better.

“I don’t know how this is still happening. I don’t know how all of a sudden he became a high volume, high percentage, three-point shooter.

“But he has. And the Lakers need it right now.”
