Sadio Mane has agreed a new contract with Liverpool that effectively ends Barcelona’s hopes of signing the star.

Mane will put pen to paper on a new five-year contract in the New Year.

The Senegal international joined Liverpool in 2016 and Express Sport understands Barca are keen on him.

However, we can now reveal Mane has agreed new terms with the Reds and the contract will be signed in January.

Tottenham instructions

Dimitar Berbatov wants Tottenham to clock Christian Eriksen down to a new contract before Real Madrid come sniffing.

“Tottenham absolutely must get him signed to a new deal as quickly as possible!” Berbatov told Betfair.

“He is one of those players who has the imagination, technique and vision to really influence games and he is also a goal threat with his ability to shoot from distance.”

Express Sport understands Eriksen, who earns £70,000 a week at Tottenham, wants pay parity with the club’s top earners.

Chelsea and Liverpool scouting war

Chelsea are on the tail of Lyon froward Houssem Aouar, but face rival interest from Liverpool.

That is according to RMC in France, who claim the Blues have been heavily scouting Aouar in recent weeks.

However, Liverpool are also said to have had watchers at Aouar’s past few outings to ascertain his ability.

Aouar, 20, has scored three goals in his last four games for Lyon.

Harry Redknapp return

Could Harry Redknapp be in line for the Southampton job when he leaves the I’m A Celebrity jungle?

Redknapp is seeking work once he leaves the jungle, having last managed Birmingham in 2017.

Bookmakers Paddy Power have him at 33/1 to take up the Southampton post if Mark Hughes is sacked.

Redknapp previously managed Saints in the mid-2000s, where he proved controversial after leaving rivals Portsmouth for St Mary’s.

He quit Saints in 2005 and retuned to Portsmouth immediately.

Jose Mourinho to be given hefty transfer kitty

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho will be given funds to strengthen his squad in the January transfer window.

Winter reinforcements were in major doubt earlier this week following the announcement that United’s share price had dropped significantly.

However, according to the Daily Star, the Glazers – who own the Red Devils – aren’t alarmed by the sudden dip in the value of shares and won’t prevent Mourinho from making any signings next month.

That decision means the Portuguese is free to pursue deals for Lorenzo Pellegrini, Diego Godin and Chelsea veteran Gary Cahill.

Liverpool fend off Barcelona interest until 2020

Liverpool have seemingly by reaching a clever deal with the Spanish champions.

The Reds have sold both Luis Suarez and Philippe Coutinho to the Spanish champions in the last few years and were powerless to stop the players leaving the club.

And in a bid to keep the likes of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane from joining them at the Nou Camp, the Merseysiders have reached a deal with the La Liga club which will prevent them from signing any of their players until 2020 unless they pay an extra £89million (100m euros) on top of any transfer fee.

The agreement was struck last January when last season’s Champions League runners-up parted company with Coutinho.

Arsenal contemplating Ben Yedder deal

Arsenal manager Unai Emery is reportedly keeping tabs on Sevilla hitman Ben Yedder.

The Gunners currently only have two out-and-out strikers at their disposal following Danny Welbeck’s ankle injury.

And Italian outlet Calciomercato claim Emery has been tracking Yedder’s performances this season and could be tempted to make a move for the 28-year-old next month.

Neymar to force Paris Saint-Germain exit

Neymar is planning to leave Paris Saint-Germain in order to re-join Barcelona, less than a year after joining the French champions

According to Goal, the 26-year-old is ready to call time on his spell at the Parc des Princes, despite having a trophy-laden debut season in Ligue 1.

His representatives are said to have contacted Barcelona’s representatives over a possible return to the Nou Camp.

And it’s been claimed the Catalan giants have informed him he must make his desire to leave Paris known before they’ll make any overtures to re-acquire his services.

Barca are also said to be willing to offer either Ousmane Demeble or Ivan Rakitic as makeweights in any potential deal for the Brazil international.

Marco Asensio makes Eden Hazard transfer statement

Real Madrid ace Marco Asensio has refused to be drawn on the possibility of Eden Hazard moving to the Nou Camp and giving him competition for his place in the starting XI.

Hazard, 27, has been linked with a move to the Bernabeu for several years now and has openly flirted with the idea of joining last season’s Champions League winners.

“It’s speculation,” the Spain international told Marca.

“We will see if anyone comes, but right now it’s just speculation.”
