LeBron James: Lakers star gave Lonzo Ball THIS message before Cavs return

The Lakers beat the Cavs 109-105 as LeBron enjoyed a successful homecoming.

And before the match the forward reportedly told Ball to play aggressively and not settle for 3-point shots.

That’s according to ESPN who claim LeBron was instrumental in getting the best out of his team-mate.

Ball has his best game of the season knocking down 7 of 11 shots and ending with 15 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists.

And the Lakers will hope to see the aggressive side of the 21-year-old again on Saturday as they take on Utah Jazz (3.30am).

Team-mate Kyle Kuzma was impressed with Ball against the Cavs and wants to see more of the same.

“It was huge,” Lakers forward Kyle Kuzma said.

“We always talk about him being aggressive. He’s always so passive.

“You want an unselfish point guard, but we need him to come in and score.

“Him coming downhill in transition where he’s at his best really helped us in this game.”

Ball has explained he finds the tempo of the game has an impact on his performance.

“The faster the game is, I usually play better like that,” he explained.

“That’s what they were telling me. I get the ball, just push it, try to outrun everybody, and that’s what I tried to do tonight.”

Lakers coach Luke Walton praised Ball for his display against the Cavs.

“I loved it,” Walton said.

“It was one of my favourite parts of our game, was how much he was attacking the rim.

“Even the ones he didn’t finish, I didn’t care.

“Just seeing him get downhill and be physical and play make, he’s so gifted with that, to see him taking that next step was really a positive for us.”
