Pokemon Go Cresselia counters and raid news revealed before December Community day update

New Legendary Cresselia Raids have been announced by Niantic for this week, with the Pokemon Company also sharing a list of counters to use.

This means that Pokemon Go players will have a new Pocket Monster to add to their collection.

Cresselia will be appearing in Raid Battles for four weeks, at which time it will probably be replaced by something new.

Cresselia Raid Date + Time: Nov. 20, 2018, at 1:00 p.m. PST (GMT −8) to Dec. 18, 2018, at 1:00 p.m. PST (GMT −8)

As Pokémon’s legendary year is coming to a close, there will be an exciting appearance of a Legendary Pokémon originally discovered in the Sinnoh region.

Don’t miss this chance to catch this Legendary Pokémon before it returns to its shrine! Stay safe, and happy exploring.

For a list of counters and suggested Pokemon to use, here are some tips from the Pokemon Company:

“Many of the same Pokémon you used against Giratina last month will also be effective against Cresselia because the two share weaknesses to Ghost-type and Dark-type attacks.

“This Psychic type’s only other weakness is against the poorly represented Bug type, so hopefully you stocked up on spooky Pokémon during the Halloween event!

“We’ll list the top-performing Pokémon from each type, but you can feel confident with any of the strongest Bug-type, Ghost-type, and Dark-type Pokémon you have available.

“Be aware that Cresselia is a particularly hearty Pokémon—it won’t deal as much damage as some other Raid Bosses, but it’ll require a larger group to take down before time expires.

“Dark-type Pokémon are typically the safest solutions to Cresselia. Their Dark-type attacks will deal extra damage, and they’ll also take reduced damage from Cresselia’s Psychic-type attacks.

A Tyranitar that knows Bite and Crunch is an excellent all-around combatant, while a Houndoom wielding Snarl and Foul Play can dish out plenty of damage, though it takes more in return because of its lower defensive stats.

“If you happen to have the powerful Pokémon Honchkrow and Weavile, you should definitely add them to your team. Avoid loading your party with Dark types if Cresselia knows Moonblast, which will deal sizable damage to these Pokémon.

“Cresselia’s limited weaknesses mean that you’re more likely than normal to need to round out your team with Pokémon that have their attacks enhanced by the weather.

“Remember to deploy your Fire types under the sun, your Dragon types when it’s windy, and your Water types and Electric types when it’s rainy to get an extra boost. Make time to battle Cresselia if you have fog in your area—that weather condition will boost both Ghost- and Dark-type attacks.”

In other Pokemon Go news, it looks like fans will soon find out more about the official December Community Day.

Niantic typically announces the Community Day date and featured Pokemon just a few days after the previous event ends.

But nearly a week removed from the November Community Day event starring Cyndaquil, fans are none the wiser about the date or featured Pokemon.

Some fans have even speculated that the December event has been cancelled due to the holiday season.

Fortunately, however, it looks like the announcement has simply been delayed and the event hasn’t been cancelled.

That’s according to Niantic Support, who told one fan that the announcement is coming soon.

Asked for more details about the Community Day event, Niantic Support tweeted: “We’ll be making an announcement with all of this information soon, keep an eye on the @PokemonGOApp channel for details.”

The December Community Day event is expected to take place on the weekend of December 15/16. If it’s anything like past events, it will take place between 10am and 1pm.
