Spain GLOATS about Brexit chaos: ‘Weak’ UK will SPLIT APART

Josep Borrell said he was “worried” about the “unity of the UK” rather than the unity of his own country because of “weaknesses” in Britain. Speaking after EU leaders met in Brussels on Monday to discuss Prime Minister Theresa May’s Brexit plan, Mr Borrell said: “I am very much worried about the unity of UK than the unity of the kingdom of Spain. “I think the UK will split apart before Spain.” When quizzed over whether his opinions were based on the unity of Spain or the weakness of the UK, he told politics news site, Politico.co.uk : “It is a clear sign of the UK’s weakness”.

Mr Borrell also revealed Spain would not block Scotland joining the EU as an independent member state in the event of the nation tearing itself away from the UK.

He said: “If they leave Britain in accordance with their internal regulations..if Westminster agrees why should we be against it?”

Spain is currently resisting independence calls from Catalonia and Mr Borrell ruled out Spain holding an independence referendum.

He said: “Mr Sanchez is very right to say ‘I cannot give you a referendum of secession’ Understand.. no.

“I am not Cameron, Spain is not Britain. We have a constitution. It is impossible, it is not going to happen.

“Like in Italy, like in Germany, like in France, like in the US, like everywhere across the world, with the only exception of Britain.
