Melania Trump divides opinion in Dior coat during Thanksgiving turkey ceremony

Melania Trump, 48, was present for the annual pardoning of the turkey for Thanksgiving, one of the largest holidays in the US.

She joined her husband Donald Trump as well as his daughter Ivanka Trump for the ceremony.

The First Lady opted for an outfit change from earlier today, choosing a Pre-Fall 2018 Dior coat in a geometric print.

The bold colour offset the otherwise-all-black outfit she sported during the event.

Melania added a pair of knee-high stiletto boots to stay warm in the cold, although decided to forgo gloves or a scarf.

Her dark blonde hair was kept casual and loose around her face and she wore a number of rings on her hands.

Earlier today, she chose to wear a £3,000 coat by Michael Kors in a red tartan print, appropriate for the festive period.

Her outfit underneath appeared to stay the same with a black top, trousers and boot combination.

Her previous appearance was to greet the Christmas tree for the White House for their third time.

Her Dior coat caused some controversy online, with some comparing it to the turkey.

Twitter users were not fans of the designer coat that featured similar colours to the bird.

One wrote: “I hope fake @FLOTUS kept the receipt for that hideous coat. My God, what was she thinking?”

Another remarked: “How nice of Melania to dress up like the guest of honor,” relating to the turkey itself.

However, another user thought the look was “very ‘fashion’ today”.

Ivanka also made an appearance with her husband Jared Kushner and three children, Arabella, Theodore and Joseph.

The daughter of the president chose a herringbone neutral coat in an autumnal hue.

To contrast, she went for a polka dot headband with gold spots to keep her hair off her face, along with a pair of pearl studs earrings.

Along with a black dress, she wore brown knee-high boots, which could knee-high as she walked across the White House lawn.

She watched on as the turkey was pardoned in the annual ceremony that takes place at the White House.
