WhatsApp looks set to bring even more helpful features to users

WhatsApp is owned by Facebook and is a hugely-popular messaging service.

In fact, WhatsApp is more popular than Facebook Messenger in terms of monthly users, according to figures by Statista.

The chatting app is regularly updated by the tech company, meaning features are constantly being introduced and refined.

WABetaInfo, a publication renowned for investigating WhatsApp alpha and beta code, recently insisted it had found evidence to support two new additions to the client.

The outlet declared WhatsApp is working on a new system to add contacts.

WhatsApp already allows users to add new contacts directly through the app, but the publication showed images of what appears to be a redesigned look for the same functionality.

The new menu for adding contacts now only asks for the user’s number and the territory it originates from.

This looks set to replace the current method of adding contacts that allows users to type in a name, organisation and other details about the person in question.

And it appears WhatsApp is also experimenting with the idea of giving each user a QR code that can be read by others.

Such an addition would present a new and intuitive way to add contacts using the app.

Snapchat already has a similar setup with its Snapcode feature that instantly adds accounts once they have been scanned by a user.

WABetaInfo showed images of the WhatsApp QR code running in an early build of the software.

It insisted once the code is scanned the chatting client will automatically acquire all contact information for the user.

Moreover, it also appears WhatsApp fans will have the option to “revoke” their code, meaning scanning it afterwards will not add the contact.

Such a move appears to be a precaution against people snapping a photo of a particular QR code and sharing it with others.

Although both new features were detailed by the outlet, it is currently unknown when either will release in a full capacity.
