LeBron James, who won four Eastern Conference titles and two NBA championships in four years with Miami, made 19 of 31 shots from the floor, including 6 of 8 on three-pointers.
He added eight rebounds, three assists, two steals and one block while making 7 of 10 on free throws.
In doing so, he set the record for most points scored by a Lakers player against Miami.
In addition, the Lakers were plus-20 during James’ 38 minutes on the court.
James had 19 points in the first quarter, 28 points at halftime and 42 through three quarters.
The Lakers, who have won five of their past six games, also got a season-high 19 points from reserve Kentavious Caldwell-Pope.
Following the game, James said: “Lance (Stephenson) told me to finish the game off and ‘I bet you won’t shoot a three’.
“He said ‘Go for the three, I bet you won’t go for it’. So I went for the three.
“That’s why I was pointing right at Lance.”
According to Forbes, James’ net worth is estimated to be in the region of $85.5million (£64.8m).
The 33-year-old’s salary alone is said to earn him $33m (£25m) annually.

James says he will treat his return to the Cleveland Cavaliers this week just like any other game.
The 33-year-old will go up against his old team on Wednesday for the first time since leaving to sign for the Lakers as a free agent on the off-season.
The forward spent 11 of his 16 professional seasons with the franchise and led them to their first-ever NBA title in 2016.
James said: “I don’t try to put too much into it. I’m gonna go out there and see if we can keep this thing going.
“We’re playing some really good ball right now. I’ll see some familiar faces like I did when I arrived (in Miami on Sunday).
“I’ll think about some of the good, I’ll think about some of the bad, I’ll think about some of the great that I had with the franchise.
“And then once the tip ball gets going it’s time to go to work.”
