Galaxy S9 released towards the start of the year is still one of the most capable smartphones on the market.
Galaxy S9 comes with a 5.8-inch AMOLED display that has an incredible density of 570 pixels-per-inch.
Moreover, the hardware is one of the few left on the market without a notch, making it incredibly appealing to Android fans that are not fond of display cutouts.
The Galaxy S9 is powered by Samsung’s own Exynos 9810 chip in the UK and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 in the US, meaning it offers blisteringly fast performance across Google’s Android operating system.
Although the flagship is currently only capable of running Android 8 Oreo, the South Korean tech giant recently unveiled its new One UI skin that release in January and run on top of Android 9 Pie.
Not only does One UI boast a radical redesign from previous Samsung skins, but it also means Galaxy S9 owners will be treated to all the handy features present in Google’s newest software.
Adaptive Battery, gesture navigations and a new multitasking layout are just some of the new functions Android 9 Pie brings to the table.
During the unveiling of One UI, Samsung insisted the new skin should make navigating devices easier with one hand overall.
Applications running on the new firmware, such as Samsung Messages, have been shown displaying the majority of content towards the middle and bottom of the display, meaning users do not have to stretch their hands to reach functions at the top.
Discussing One UI, Samsung said: “One UI helps you focus on what really matters to you.
“With hardware and software working together in harmony, see only what you need, using and viewing your phone with an experience that feels second nature. Because it’s the small details that make a big difference.
“One UI changes how you view your phone. Use Night Mode for a comfortable experience in the dark.
“And with clear and intuitive visuals, you don’t have to give it a second thought.”
Ahead of the Galaxy S9’s upgrade to Android 9 Pie, the Samsung flagship has seen a huge price plunge ahead of Black Friday 2018.
John Lewis is currently offering £140 off the Galaxy S9, meaning Android fans can pick it up for just £599.
The models being sold are either the black, blue or purple variants with 64GB of internal storage.
Samsung is also matching this deal, meaning the tech giant is also selling it at £599 from its regular £739 cost.
The Galaxy S9 discount is just one of John Lewis’ tantalising Black Friday offers on electronics.
The outlet is also slashing the cost of the Galaxy Note 9, meaning customers can pick it up for just £799.
