‘Equivalent of a rectal exam’ Trump issued stark warning following midterms defeat

Sarah Elizabeth Cupp, a conservative political commentator, said that Trump’s “three-hour workday is about to go bye-bye”. She said: “Governing is hard work and it’s about to get harder without Republicans controlling all the levers. With Democrats retaking the House the next two years will be the equivalent of a rectal exam for Trump.”

Specifically, Ms Cupp pointed to the “deluge of investigations” the President may face, his “shrinking base”, and his alleged lack of trust for many individuals in his administration.

She said: “All this means Trump 1.0 is likely to return and with a vengeance.”

Previously, Trump has attacked Ms Cupp, calling her “one of the dumber pundits” on TV and that she is “a totally biased loser who doesn’t have a clue”.

During a 2016 interview with the Hollywood Reporter, she talked about her relationship with Trump and joked: “He’s never grabbed my genitalia.”

She told the Reporter: “I was looking forward to his campaign.

“But obviously he took it to a dark place pretty early on.

“I knew I wasn’t going to be supporting him.

“It’s just for me personally a very bizarre culmination of events.”

In 2015, tension arose between the President and the commentator after she attacked him when he called for a “total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States”.

She exclaimed: “Peddling this unconstitutional, un-American, un-conservative garbage has got to stop.”

Ms Cupp told the Reporter that it had been “surreal” when she met Trump in person.

She said: “I’ve been saying awful things about him, which are all true and still there’s this moment of recognition that we’re all here just doing the job.”

Trump has consistently targeted CNN, often referring to the network as “fake news”.

Earlier this month, the White House removed the press pass for CNN’s White House correspondent Jim Acosta.

However, after a court case, a judge ordered the White House to temporarily restore Mr Acosta’s credentials.
