Finding the best horse in Red Dead Redemption 2 is one way to make missions and side quests a little easier.

And the sooner you track it down, the quicker you can bond with it, upgrading its overall health and stamina.

You can also extend the whistling distance by bonding with your horse, which is an easy process and something achieved over a relatively short amount of time.

And if you can track down the best horse in Chapter 2, it means you can be ready for the challenges coming in the rest of the game.

Unlike other games, a lot of Red Dead Redemption 2’s best secrets aren’t hidden behind complicated levelling systems.

You can find them by exploring the map yourself, although, having a few pointers along the way can speed up the process.

And finding the best horse in Red Dead Redemption 2 is easy when you know where to look.

You may like the horse you already have, or have your eye on a pricey steed found in one of the stables located around the map.

But it’s hard to pass up the chance to tame a horse for free and get some serious stat upgrades in the process.

FINDING THE BEST HORSE IN RED DEAD REDEMPTION 2

For players who want to start the White Arabian hunt, reaching Chapter two in Red Dead Redemption 2 is one of the only major requirements.

Tracking down the horse is an easy task but completing the whole process and riding away with a new steed can take some time.

So it’s a good idea to have everything you need before heading out into the mountains.

Luckily, this mostly includes packing yourself some warm clothes, food and other items to replenish your cores and a horse to make the journey on.

It might also be worth heading out into the heartlands and trying your hand at taming other horses as a warm-up.

Finding the White Arabian is your first task and isn’t a hard one to complete when you know whereabouts on the map to aim for.

The good news is that the White Arabian is not a random occurrence and can be tracked down to a single location.

And this would be in the northwest of the map, around the land surrounding Lake Isabella.

Heading into the mountains, be careful of falling off cliffs and roaming wolves, you will need to be vigilant of both threats.

When you reach Lake Isabella, you should head for the marker posted above and dismount your horse.

Start skulking around on foot, using dead eye to help you find the White Arabian. Looking for a white horse in the snow can take a little while.

After you do track it down, move slowly toward it, making sure you stop every time the Calm meter starts to deplete.

Stopping and pressing X or Square will help refill the Calm meter and make it possible to reach the horse.

When you do reach it, be prepared for a wild ride, as the horse will try and buck you for a short time.

Players need to hold on and counterbalance the horse using the analog sticks until it has been tamed.

This usually means holding down the left stick while keeping balance with the second stick, with another option to calm the horse by pressing X or square, like you did when trying to reach it.

This could take a couple of tries and might mean being thrown off the steed. If this happens, the horse will run off, and you will need to track it down again.

Luckily, you can use the scent trail like you do when hunting an animal, meaning you’re not left tramping around in the snow for ages.

Once you have unlocked the horse, you can bond with it to increase whistling range, unlock new moves, and boost its stats.

You can also buy new saddles to help make it a better steed, increasing certain stats and providing small bonuses.

It’s a nice simple quest that players can complete early on in the game and be useful right up until the end.

Finding yourself being tracked down by bounty hunters, or making your way through Blackwater, is a lot easier when you can outpace your enemies.

It’s also a nice way to unlock one of Red Dead Redemption 2’s many Easter eggs while also bagging a nice upgrade at the same time.
