Pokemon Go Meltan Special Research NEWS, December Community Day UPDATE

developer Niantic has introduced a brand new Special Research quest to celebrate the release of Pokemon Let’s Go on Switch.

The ‘Pokemon Let’s Go, Meltan’ quest gives players the chance to encounter the brand new Pocket Monster.

Taking place over nine stages, the ‘Let’s Go, Meltan’ quest can be found in the Special Research section of the app.

“Professor Willow needs your help tracking down this Steel-type Pokemon with some new Special Research – are you up for the task?” reads a Niantic post. “You can get started right now!”

To celebrate the release of Pokemon Let’s Go on Nintendo Switch, players will also encounter Kanto region Pokemon in Field Research tasks and in the wild.

“Plus, in addition to the Special Research, Field Research featuring Pokemon originally discovered in the Kanto region and not commonly found in Pokemon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokemon: Let’s Go, Eevee! will be available from now until November 27,” Niantic continues.

“Make sure to look around you during that time, as Pokemon such as Omanyte and Kabuto may appear in the wild more frequently!”

You can also buy Pikachu and Eevee avatar items from the in-game shop.

Niantic has also posted a fresh update about the December Community Day event.

Niantic typically announces the Community Day date and featured Pokemon just a few days after the previous event ends.

But a week removed from the November Community Day event starring Cyndaquil, fans are none the wiser about the date or featured Pokemon.

Some fans have even speculated that the December event has been cancelled due to the holiday season.

Fortunately, however, it looks like the announcement has simply been delayed and the event hasn’t been cancelled.

That’s according to Niantic Support, who told one fan that the announcement is coming soon.

Asked for more details about the Community Day event, Niantic Support tweeted:”We’ll be making an announcement with all of this information soon, keep an eye on the @PokemonGOApp channel for details.”
