Joe Sugg: Strictly Come Dancing star warned by Charles Venn ahead of Blackpool week

The 27-year-old YouTube star was joined by the 45-year-old actor at the Ballroom for It Takes Two tonight as they took time out of rehearsals to chat to presenter Gethin Jones, 40.

As the pair gushed about the being part of the famous Strictly Come Dancing Blackpool week experience, Gethin said: “Blackpool is like a big school trip, isn’t it?

“I’ve heard, I don’t know if this is true or not, are you the team prankster? Have you been up to anything on Strictly yet?” he asked Joe.

“Usually I am the team prankster,” the Strictly hopeful replied. “But I feel like because I’m around new people, I’m on my best behaviour until after Blackpool.

“So, if I’m still around, that’s when I’ll unleash all the pranks,” he teased.

“Anything can happen after Blackpool, let me tell you,” Gethin agreed.

“And you’ve got dad looking over you now as well,” he added, gesturing to Charles.

“Absolutely, I’m watching you,” Charles joked. “I mean son, come on now.

“Don’t be pranking me. I don’t take pranks well,” he warned, laughing.

Joe also revealed his family would be joining the Strictly audience to watch him dance for the first time during tomorrow night’s show.

“One half of my family, a lot of my aunties, uncles, my nan, my dad, they’re all coming up today,” he said. “The whole Sugg family will be up, which will be pretty exciting.”

On the subject of making it to Blackpool, Charles said: “At first, my goal was to just not be knocked out in the first round. Then I decided to actually dare to dream about Blackpool.

“So to actually get here, honestly, it’s a blessing. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity.”

While Joe’s Strictly journey has been hugely successful, having avoided the dance off with his partner Dianne Buswell, 29, so far, Charles and his professional partner Karen Clifton, 36, have struggled to reach Blackpool.

They have found themselves in the bottom two on three occasions.

The first time, he beat Lee Ryan, 35, and Nadiya Bychkova, 29, and later emerged victorious when he landed in the dance off against Katie Piper, 35, and Gorka Marquez, 28.

Earlier this month, he faced Dr Ranj Singh, 39, and Janette Manrara, 35, once again managing to sway the judges in order to keep his place in the competition.

Speaking about his third dance off, Charles said it was “more disappointment” during an appearance on It Takes Two.

“It really just knocked the complete stuffing out of me,” he continued. “It was disheartening. We did what we always do, and just fight!”

Strictly Come Dancing continues tomorrow at 6.45pm on BBC One.
