Kevin Durant ‘disgraceful’ in wake of Draymond Green row – NBA expert SLAMS Warriors star

That is the opinion of NBA journalist Stephen A Smith.

Durant fell out with Green on Tuesday night as the Golden State Warriors suffered a narrow loss to the Los Angeles Clippers.

Durant was frustrated that Green travelled downcourt, losing possession in doing so, instead of passing the ball to him.

The pair exchanged some choice words, with Green reportedly saying his team-mate: “We don’t need you. We won without you. Leave.”

Durant has been toying with whether to sign a contract extension in California as he runs down the final year of his contract.

The small forward signed back in 2016 when several star Warriors, including Green, took pay cuts in order to afford his services.

Green was issued a one-game ban by the franchise for his outburst at Durant, and the pair played together against the Houston Rockets last nigth for the first time since the row.

It was a below-par performance from the reigning NBA champions, losing 107-86 to the side the defeated in last year’s Western Conference Finals.

Durant shot 20 points in the game but was poor with his field goal shooting, while Green did not hit one basket.

Durant’s performance was a huge disappointment for Smith, however, who has covered the NBA for over 30 years.

“You get called out by Draymond Green. He shows back up on the court for the first time since his suspension,” Smith said on First Take.

“When you go up against the Houston Rockets – who you faced in the conference finals – everybody knows what Draymond said to you by now.

“We know what he said to you – he said it to you in the huddle the night of the Clippers [game].

“He said: ‘To hell with you! We don’t need you. We won one before you got here and we’ll win one after you’ve gone.’ Total disrespect.

“Total disrepsect to KD. And this is how you respond? You respond by attempting just 15 shots?

“And sitting on the bench in your hood? Sitting there chilling.

“You got to be kidding me. This was a disgraceful performance. Absolutely disgraceful.”

Smith was quick not to overreact on the Warriors’ chances of another ring, though, with the franchise still sitting atop the Western Conference despite three losses in five games.

“Now it’s just one game, and I understand that,” Smith accepted.

“I’m not one of these people who say it’s over for the Warriors.

“I tell you what’s over: the future. Kevin Durant doesn’t want to be there.”
