Fantastic Beasts 2: Ezra Miller SPEAKS on Johnny Depp controversy ‘We weren’t consulted’

Two years ago Depp cameoed at the end of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them as Grindelwald, having been hiding in plain sight as Colin Farrell’s Percival Graves throughout. The Pirates star was being set up to play the Harry Potter prequel series’ villain across four sequels. However, following abuse allegations from his ex-wife Amber Heard, some fans were calling for his removal. Nevertheless, JK Rowling stepped in and defended Depp’s casting, claiming the couple want to move forward.

During an interview with Playboy, Miller, who plays Credence in the series, was asked if he was spoken to by Rowling regarding Depp’s continued involvement in the franchise.

He said: “No, none of us were consulted. None of us knew.”

When asked if he was comfortable with Depp being the films, he replied: “Look, I bring forth my work to this job, and I do the best that I can.

“I would say that literally every single aspect of my reality, inclusive of a lot of things that are not fine with me, are fine with me. It’s amazing how far the banner of all good can extend.”

For those unfamiliar with the character, she is part of the Disneyland ride and attraction.

Also known as The Redhead, she is thought to be inspired by the historic Irish pirate, Anne Bonny.

In the first three Pirates of the Caribbean movies, there’s a prostitute called Scarlett who is loosely based on her.

Fantastic Beasts 2: The Crimes of Grindelwald is released in UK cinemas today.
