Windows 10 October 2018 Update was initially released on October 2 during a Microsoft hardware event in New York City.
However, following its initial debut, a number of users reported issues concerning unexpected file deletion.
This resulted in Microsoft pausing the delivery of the new Windows 10 version until it had fixed the issues in question.
However, on Tuesday, November 13, the American tech firm announced it was re-releasing the October 2018 Update to all Windows 10 users.
Microsoft stressed it was still taking a more “measured approach” with the rollout though, meaning not all fans will be able to get their hands on the new firmware instantly.
The American company explained: “In early October, we paused the rollout of the Windows 10 October 2018 Update as we investigated isolated reports of users missing files after updating.
“In addition to extensive internal validation, we have taken time to closely monitor feedback and diagnostic data from our Windows Insiders and from the millions of devices on the Windows 10 October Update, and we have no further evidence of data loss.
“Based on this data, today we are beginning the re-release of the October Update by making it available via media and to advanced users who seek to manually check for updates.
“While the April Update had the fastest Windows 10 update rollout velocity, we are taking a more measured approach with the October Update, slowing our rollout to more carefully study device health data.
“We will offer the October Update to users via Windows Update when data shows your device is ready and you will have a great experience.”
Although the release of the October 2018 Update has only just resumed, Microsoft has already detailed a huge new feature set to arrive in the next substantial upgrade for Windows 10.
The next Windows 10 update is named 19H1 and is presumed to debut in April of 2019.
Microsoft released Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 18282 yesterday that contains a new light theme for the operating system.
It appears the American tech giant has redesigned the look of the software so there “truer separation” between it and the system’s dark mode.
Discussing the new look, Microsoft said: “Ever since we introduced the ability to choose between light and dark in Windows 10, we’ve heard feedback asking for a truer separation between the two options.
“When you select Light under Settings > Personalisation > Colours, the expectation is that the system colour would be lighter too. And it didn’t do that before – the taskbar and many other things stayed dark.
“Now, if you choose Light under Settings > Personalisation > Colours, all system UI will now be light. This includes the taskbar, Start menu, Action Centre, touch keyboard, and more.”
However, Microsoft noted when Windows 10 Insiders update to the new software they will not immediately see the change.
Instead, the new light theme will have to be enabled in the Windows 10 settings menu.
Microsoft went on: “When you update to this build, your system colour won’t automatically change to the new light system colour.
“This is because we want everything to be exactly as you left it before you did the update. We’re leaving the choice up to you!”
Although the new look is only available for Windows 10 Insiders, it is expected to debut in the next upgrade for the operating system that is presumed to release towards the start of next year.
