While cheating in some games is a serious problem, Rockstar Games actively encourages their players to unlock codes to do just that.
Red Dead Redemption 2 PS4 and Xbox One players have been busy discovering new ways to the play the game, some of which are tips directly from Rockstar Games.
RED DEAD REDEMPTION 2 CHEATS
Unlike in other AAA games, the development team for Red Dead Redemption 2 have provided full cheat support.
There is a whole system of finding and unlocking codes that help you skirt certain problems in the game.
This can be found in the options menu and includes a long list empty slots that can be filled by players.
It means that players don’t need to remember button combinations as they did in GTA 5, but simply have to find how to unlock them add them to their cheats menu.
It should be noted that RDR2 cheats are found as words and phrases in the world, with more than 30 cheats currently available in the game.
And they are pretty consistent with codes found in other Rockstar Games titles, such as being able to unlock infinite Ammo, refill health bars and spawn horses.
ENTERING CHEAT CODES
The cheats menu is found in the setting sub-menu and requires players to type in certain words and phrases.
These are found in the world by looking at newspapers, and some won’t be available to use until you have found these items.
Having them in your inventory when you enter the code will make them usable and will allow players to toggle them on and off.
This comes with a warning that achievements will be locked when this has been done. Some Newspapers will only become available to use when you reach certain chapters in the story.
It should also be noted that more Red Dead Redemption 2 cheats could be found in the near future.

RED DEAD REDEMPTION 2 TIPS
Rockstar Games has also released a list of basic tips that some players may not have used yet.
These are easy commands that may help you out, especially as many of the tutorials you find in the game do not include them.
- Lost Your Hat? – If you find yourself hatless at the end of a hard day’s gunslinging, Arthur’s Hat can be recovered simply by standing next to or mounting your horse, holding L1 and tapping R1 to bring up the Horse Wheel.
- Faster Looting – Hold down the Square/X button to continually loot multiple items from chests and containers.
- Quick View Map – Hold down Options/Menu button to view your map instantly.
- Alternate Controls – In the game’s Controls Menu, there are a number of pre-set control schemes and options including the ability to alter your sprint controls.
- Horse Melee – You can hold and release Circle/B to melee from horseback.
- Aiming Down Sights – Tap down on the D-pad while aiming in first person to look down your sights. This also works for scoped weapons by aiming in third person.
- Lost A Legendary Pelt? – If you misplace a legendary animal pelt out in the wild, it will automatically be delivered to the Trapper.
- Hands-Free Travel – Simply navigate to a main road, set a waypoint on your map and build up some speed before switching to Cinematic Camera to travel hands-free.
- Warning Shot – To fire a shot up in the air, simply hold L2/LT then tap up on the D-pad before firing. Useful for warning shots and intimidating witnesses.
