Lisa Riley weight loss: Emmerdale actress reveals her secret to shedding 12 stone

Lisa Riley has dropped an incredible 12 stone and slimmed down 10 dress sizes, and now the former Emmerdale actress, who was once a size 28, is spilling her weight loss secrets.

The star is urging women to get in shape using her simple tips, advising: “Burn more calories than you consume”.

So, just how did Lisa lose 12 stone?

In her tips shared with The Mirror, Lisa explained how vital it is to get back on track once you’ve had a small set back and how to stay on top of your goals.

The 42 year old stresses the importance of getting straight back on your plan after a blip, explaining: “Everyone is bound to have little blips along the way, but don’t see that as failure and a signal to give up – just draw a line under it and move on.”

From simple tips like starting the day off with a cup of hot cup of lemon, to eating from a bowl instead of a plate, Lisa has now crafted a lifestyle to suit her goals.

Lisa said the changes begun once she learned to accept responsibility for her diet, explaining: “I had made myself fat by gorging on bread, crisps, crumpets and red wine.

“Once I accepted responsibility for my health, weight and lifestyle it made it easier to take control. You don’t have to have starter, main and pudding. If you are doing that you are eating too much.”

She also made sure to completely clear her cupboards of junk food and fatty snacks.

“If the fatty snacks aren’t there, you can’t eat them. It’s as simple as that,” she added.

And while it’s easy to be tempted by discounted treats in the supermarket, Lisa said she would always write a shopping list so that she didn’t veer from it.

Lisa continued: “Don’t fall for the diet tricks. Fancy diet products won’t make a blind bit of difference if you snack on crisps every night.”

She also made sure to change how she thought about her relationship with food, ditching comfort eating for an exercise class for that boost of mood-lifting endorphins.

And instead of eating her dinner from a dinner plate, Lisa made sure to shrink her portions by eating from a bowl.

Making lunch her main meal of the day, Lisa’s body has enough time to burn it all off.

Lisa now exercises everyday for a minimum of 30 minutes after starting off  with two 15-minute walks.

After shedding 12st, the actress finally ditched tent-like outfits she had worn for years for a glitzy dresses that cling in all the right places to her newly toned body.

Now Lisa, a former size 28, wants to help others get party dress-ready in time for Christmas, just like she did.

She says: “Wearing a size 12 for the first time in my life was honestly the most amazing feeling. I wish I could bottle it and share it out with everyone. But I truly believe if I can do it, anyone can.”
