Danny John-Jules: Amy Dowden has Strictly co-star in tears after actor skips It Takes Two

Danny John-Jules and Amy Dowden got the boot from Strictly Come Dancing 2018 on Sunday night, after a dance-off with Graeme Swann and Oti Mabuse.

The Red Dwarf actor, 58, was expected on sister show It Takes Two yesterday, however the professional dancer, 27, was the only one who was on the sofa.

Host Zoe Ball explained to BBC Two viewers: “Danny has decided not to join us tonight.”

It is customary for the eliminated star to give one final interview on the spin-off after the Sunday results show.

Amy has broken her silence on her appearance on Twitter, in reply to former Strictly co-star Dr Ranj Singh.

The This Morning regular said she had left him “in tears” thanks to her “amazing” performance over the weekend.

She later replied to her supportive ex-rival, who was partnered up with Janette Manrara before he was voted out earlier this month.

The 39-year-old had started: “Just re-watched the gorgeous @dowden_amy in the @bbcstrictly #RemembranceDay pro dance… simply amazing. I’m in tears.”

One user responded: “So was I, so emotional xx,” before she took to the micro-blogging site just after midnight, sharing five red heart emojis.

Amy wrote: “Can’t wait to see you this weekend xxx,” in view of her 21,000 followers.

It comes after Oti also gushed about her on Twitter, hours after her and Danny’s exit was revealed to the public.

“I love you very much @dowden_amy,” the 28-year-old, who narrowly escaped elimination, told her.

“I love you more xxx,” she said back, before adding a kiss icon.

She and Graeme, 39, are currently gearing up to perform in the Blackpool special, but their chosen dance is yet to be revealed.

Craig Revel Horwood was the only one who opted to save Danny and Amy, with his fellow judges Shirley Ballas, Bruno Tonioli and Darcey Bussell all disagreeing.
