RDR2 Online release date: Big Red Dead Redemption 2 beta update for PS4 and Xbox One

We now know that the RDR2 Online release date will not arrive until nearer the end of November 2018.

This is what Rockstar Games announced during a recent earnings call, and it wasn’t the only big piece of news.

Another announcement was made concerning how Red Dead Redemption 2 online will run alongside the other massive multiplayer mode currently out on PS4, Xbox One and PC.

GTA Online is being used as the original template for RDR2 Online, which looks set to be a massive hit.

The GTA 5 multiplayer mode continues to post impressive stats, with the latest announcement confirming that it’s providing a stable revenue stream for parent company, Take-Two Interactive.

And the latest results from Take-Two confirm that GTA Online and NBA 2K19 have helped push profits.

And with the arrival of Red Dead Online, things look set to grow even more in the future.

Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said during the earnings call: “Red Dead Redemption 2 is now tied with Grand Theft Auto V as the highest rated title on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, with a 97 Metacritic score.

“A massive commercial success, Red Dead Redemption 2 has set numerous records, including achieving the biggest opening weekend in the history of entertainment, with over $725 million in retail sell-through during its first three days.

“As a result of our strong second quarter performance and outstanding early results from Red Dead Redemption 2, we are raising our financial outlook for fiscal 2019, which is also poised to be a record year for Net Bookings and Adjusted Operating Cash Flow.”

The other big news confirmed ahead of the RDR2 Online release was that support would continue for GTA Online.

Many fans may have suspected that GTA 5 Online would start to see a serious dip in multiplayer expansions with the launch of Red Dead Redemption 2.

However, it has now been confirmed that Rockstar Games will be continuing support alongside Red Dead Online.

This will likely mean that both games will see updates for the foreseeable future which will be staggered, with players able to switch between the two.

Rockstar Games’ latest update on the release date of RDR2 Online is that it will be launched later in November.

Take-Two Interactive’s Strauss Zelnick provided the information on the Red Dead Redemption 2 Online release date during the same earnings call.

“It’s way too early to talk about Red Dead Redemption 2 Online, it hasn’t released yet,” Zelnick said.

“It will launch in public beta towards the end of the month, and Rockstar will have a lot more to say about it. We’re not making any current predictions.”

Zelnick was answering a question on how he thought Red Dead Online would compare to the release of GTA Online.

Fans are still expecting some kind of announcement trailer to be released for Red Dead Online in the coming weeks.

Take-Two has also announced that Red Dead Redemption 2 has sold-in 17 million units since its launch late last month.

It should be noted that this is the number sold to stores, rather than directly to consumers, but is a large amount nonetheless.

It was already confirmed that RDR2 was the second fastest-selling entertainment product of all time behind GTA 5.
