Liverpool news: Could Klopp axe strikers and swoop for Barcelona ace? Valverde speaks out

The Frenchman has had a tough time in Catalonia.

Barca signed him from Borussia Dortmund 18 months ago for a hefty £100m.

However, he suffered an injury ravaged debut season in Catalonia and has struggled for form this time round.

Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo suggested earlier this month that Liverpool will make a move for Dembele if he becomes available.

And, following recent comments from Ernesto Valverde, that could be on the cards sooner rather than later.

The talented ace won’t feature this weekend against Real Betis after failing to report for training on Thursday.

“I do not lose patience with him,” Valverde said.

“Each one can interpret it as he wants.

“This is a team. Sometimes some are summoned and sometimes others.

“I’m looking for the best.

“Ousmane came from being a starter and now he’s out.”

When asked if his future at the Nou Camp is now in doubt, the ex-Athletic Bilbao boss was coy.

“I have nothing to say,” Valverde added.

“Internal matters are internal.

“We want to help the players to be better.”

If Jurgen Klopp wants to make a move, he’ll need to shuffle his ranks.

The Sun reckon Solanke could be packing his bags.

The striker has become a peripheral figure at the Premier League heavyweights.

He made 21 appearances last season in the top flight, but registered just one goal.

It’s suggested Klopp isn’t ready to entirely give up on the youngster.

However, a loan move now looks highly likely in January.

It’s suggested Crystal Palace and West Ham are both sniffing around as they look to bolster their attacking options.

Origi is also deemed surplus to requirements.

He is now ahead of Solanke in the pecking order but Klopp does’t see him as a long-term option.
