Nintendo Switch UPDATE: YouTube available to download NOW from Switch eShop

Nintendo Switch has at last got YouTube with an app for the video streaming giant available in the eShop right now.

The official Nintendo UK Twitter revealed that the app was available to download in a post today.

They tweeted: “Kick back and relax with @YouTube on your #NintendoSwitch.

“Enjoy entertainment like music videos and shows, plus gaming livestreams, how-to guides and much more.

“YouTube is now available to download from Nintendo #eShop.”

YouTube and Netflix apps have long been rumoured to be coming to the Nintendo Switch, with the latter also hopefully having an imminent release.

The news comes after the release date for the Nintendo Switch YouTube app was leaked earlier this week.

NintendHome (via Resetera) spotted the YouTube app on the suggested apps section of the North American Nintendo website.

The listing said the YouTube app would make its Nintendo Switch debut on November 8 – which is when it went live.

Fans hoping that a Netflix release will follow hot on the heels of the YouTube app were given an update earlier this year.

Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime told Switch owners that other services will come in due time.

He said: “What we said when we launched Nintendo Switch was that we wanted to have a gaming-first platform and that’s what we’ve created. And that’s what enabled us in the first 12 months in the United States to be the best-selling home console in the history of video games.

“Right now, we enable Hulu on the platform, we’ve said that other services will come in due time.

“For us, we want to make sure that continue driving the install base for Nintendo Switch, continue to have great games for the platform.

“In terms of what’s next on the streaming side, you’re gonna have to talk to those individual providers in terms of where they stand and what they’re working on.”
