Chicago reverend’s plan to build for the future

In Chicago, the West Garfield Park neighborhood has the lowest life expectancy in the city. As gun violence, drug addiction, housing discrimination, and a lack of high-quality education threaten the community, the Rev. Marshall Hatch, Jr. has a solution: the Maafa Redemption Project. With a team of life coaches, Hatch is mentoring young men in carpentry, among other trades, to rehabilitate homes in the neighborhood.
