Paul Pogba: Why Man Utd star was BETTER at Juventus – Paul Scholes

That is the opinion of Manchester United legend and BT Sport pundit Paul Scholes.

Paul Pogba joined Juventus from United in 2012 after rejecting a new contract at Old Trafford.

The Frenchman won four consecutive Serie A titles with the Old Lady before re-joining United in 2016 for a then world-record fee of £89million.

Pogba has often been the subject of criticism since his return to England, with many claiming he has not lived up to his price tag.

But Scholes claims the quality of player around Pogba is lower at United than it was at Juventus.

And the pundit claims Pogba’s role with the Red Devils is not as clear as it was when he was playing in Serie A.

“Oh he’s really talented,” Scholes said.

“We know that, we’ve been around him.

“We know the talent he has and that’s why he probably frustrates so many people that watch him.

“At Juventus he was part of a set structure which I think helped him.

“He was an attacking-midfield player really.

“He is an attacking-midfield player (at United) but he doesn’t have that structure at Manchester United and he hasn’t done for two or three years.

“He’s had team changes every week, his position changes every so often.

“He plays on the left of midfield, right of midfield, he plays behind the frontman.

“To be fair at Juventus he was playing with better players, some top-quality players around him.

“And having that assurance of knowing his role in the team every week helped him.”
