Huawei Mate 20 Pro receives a substantial upgrade that makes this smartphone even better

Huawei Mate 20 Pro boasts a number of tantalising features that makes it a noteworthy upgrade from the P20 Pro.

Although both devices come with a triple-camera system, the Mate 20 Pro ditches the P20 Pro’s monochrome sensor in favour of a wide-angle lens.

This allows the Mate 20 Pro to fit more objects into an image overall.

In addition to boasting an extremely capable camera, the Mate 20 Pro also comes with a gorgeous 6.39-inch display at a 1440p resolution.

Moreover, it also touts a 4,200mAh battery that easily delivers all-day life.

We adored the Mate 20 Pro so much we awarded it five out of five stars in our review of the product.

But now the Chinese manufacturer has released its case for the Mate 20 Pro that should allow it to be completely waterproof.

Dubbed the “pro diving case” the accessory has been designed to allow the flagship to be submerged past the 1.5 meters of water the device can already survive thanks to its IP68 rating, as noted by MyDivers.

The Huawei Mate 20 Pro’s camera features an underwater mode that is designed to be used in conjunction with such a case.

When you head into the mode on the device, Huawei advises users they should follow “submergence depth and usage time instructions carefully”.

A message present in the camera application reads: “Please use a Huawei waterproof phone case for underwater photography.

“Make sure to use the case correctly, and follow the submergence depth and usage time instructions carefully.

“Any damage caused to your phone by misuse will not be covered by warranty.”

Once the Mate 20 Pro is set to its underwater mode, a new interface for the camera application emerges.

Instead of seeing a traditional viewfinder with a shutter button and modes at the bottom, shots can only be captured with the volume up button.

The volume down button acts as a video start and stop button while holding down on the screen will exit the mode.

Such an interface change appears to be geared towards the design of Huawei’s underwater case that features prominent buttons for access to the volume up, volume down and power buttons respectively.

However, Huawei only appears to be selling the underwater case in China for now.

The accessory retails for 599 Chinese Yuan (£65.80).
