WoW Classic release date UPDATE: World of Warcraft launch and demo news at BlizzCon

WoW Classic has been a hotly anticipated new release from Blizzard, which just got a massive update at BlizzCon 2018.

In one of the major highlights from today Blizzcon livestream, it was revealed that WoW Classic would have a release date in 2019.

While an exact date wasn’t shared, Blizzard has confirmed that the vanilla World of Warcraft experience would be going live in summer 2019.

They also confirmed that WoW Classic would be part of active World of Warcraft subscriptions, great news for fans who are still battling through the latest expansion.

In other news, it’s been revealed that the WoW Classic demo is going live on servers to download during BlizzCon.

The WoW Classic playable demo will be made available to all fans who buy a Blizzcon 2018 Virtual Ticket.

It was also announced that the WoW Classic demo can be played on the showfloor during the Blizzcon celebrations.

As it’s a demo, the amount of gameplay available will be limited, and will only run until early November.

Here’s more from Blizzard, who confirm: “With WoW Classic, Blizzard is committed to restoring and recreating WoW’s original content and gameplay experience as authentically as possible.

“Aid Mankrik on his tragic quest in an era before the Barrens was sundered in two; raid Molten Core with level-60 heroes’ original abilities and talents; regale the inns of Azeroth with tales of PvP at Tarren Mill; and much more.

“Play with the conveniences of modern Blizzard Battle.net and WoW technology such as Blizzard friends lists; select UI improvements; enhancements designed to ensure stability and fair play; and all the latest under-the-hood engine updates to support players’ current hardware.”

“Players will have a chance to explore and enjoy a limited questing experience through a pair of classic early-level zones—one Horde and one Alliance—and experience firsthand our recreation of the original Azeroth.

“Once the demo is live, it will be available to play until approximately 17:00 GMT on November 8.

“We’re thrilled to be able to bring this piece of the BlizzCon experience to more people than ever before—and together with other interactive Virtual Ticket features that let online viewers vote and help shape the show, this BlizzCon is shaping up to be the biggest coming-together of our community yet.”

In addition to these WoW items, BlizzCon attendees and Virtual Ticket holders will also receive commemorative in-game items for every major Blizzard franchise.
